James Victore by Hillman Curtis

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Hillman Curtis has been making short films for a number of years now and is putting together some really amazing pieces (Bridge). I’ve always loved this piece that he did about James Victore. Like Victore’s work, it is direct and totally engaging. If I remember correctly, Hillman made this as part of a series that he did for Adobe, but because of the political nature of Victore’s work, Adobe didn’t include it in the series.

Which, I guess if he’s getting censored… he’s probably doing something right.

Enjoy!

What Moves You?

Monday, June 16th, 2008

This marks the inaugural post of the new Power To The Poster blog. The primary purpose of this blog is to give a little extra thought to some of the posters that we put on the site. Discussing some of the ideas that are being communicated and opening those ideas up for all of you to think about, comment on, argue over or rally around. We’ll attempt to expand upon some of the issues and share some resources for further explorations.

We’ll also be talking about some of the design techniques and concepts used in the posters. We’ll dissect some of the various styles and talk about some of the restrictions and opportunities of designing greyscale, 11×17 posters. We may also share sources of inspiration and design resources.

Until the fighting stops…. PEACE!
